Compilatio for French Detection – Anyone Tried It? Is It Worth It?
i keep hearing about Compilatio as the French-language detection option but haven’t been able to find many actual teacher reviews in our Quebec context. has anyone used it seriously?
from what I understand it’s French-origin and designed specifically for academic French text. which would make it more appropriate than GPTZero or Turnitin for our students. but i dont know how the pricing works for a small school or what the actual false positive rate is on real Quebec student writing.
we have no board policy which means i’m making these decisions myself. the tools we’re using (Turnitin subscription through the board, GPTZero free) are both clearly performing worse on French text. but buying a separate French tool on top of existing subscriptions is hard to justify without data.
anyone in a Quebec CEGEP or French school system who has actually used it and can give me numbers?

Log In to Replynever heard of Compilatio before this thread. looking it up now. any French-language tool that was actually trained on French academic texts would be a significant improvement over what we have. most of us are using English-first tools and just hoping they work.
bookmarking this whole thread. exactly the numbers i needed. depressing how difficult this basic decision is when the tools aren't built for our context.
