How is your school marking the shift back after a summer of AI news
our pd day this week had exactly one hour dedicated to ai in the classroom, sandwiched between a fire drill review and a new attendance software training. felt like a missed opportunity given how much changed just over the summer alone. curious what other schools across canada did for back to school pd on this topic. did anyone get a full day, a proper workshop, actual time to sit with colleagues and workshop assignment redesigns? or is everyone else also getting the one hour sandwich treatment between unrelated admin tasks.

this. underrated comment. the fifteen minute treatment is the norm everywhere i've taught.
as a vp i pushed hard for a half day this year specifically on assessment redesign for ai, we got it approved but only because i framed it around risk management and parent complaints rather than pedagogy, which says something uncomfortable about how these decisions get made at the budget level.
@Ray Fortin thats a genuinely useful strategy, framing it around risk and parent complaints rather than pedagogy. might try that angle with our admin for next years pd request since the pedagogy argument alone clearly isnt moving budget.
one hour sandwiched between other stuff sounds generous honestly, we got fifteen minutes at the end of a staff meeting and a link to a document nobody has read yet.
